Employees of the Guria Express flour mill are holding a rally in Ozurgeti. Demonstrators demand higher wages, health insurance and better working conditions. Mill employees speak of the degrading treatment by the administration.
Representatives of the Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association (GYLA) met with the strikers today and promised to support them.
Employees of Guria Express have already hired a lawyer to protect their rights. They do not rule out suing the company and do not intend to resume work until their requirements are fully met.
Akaki Toidze, a lawyer of the Guria Express, said the administration was aware of the employees’ demands. Though most of them are resolved, the pay rise issue is still pending, the lawyer said.
