Elisashvili: Gakharia made pragmatic decision by leaving Georgia

“Giorgi Gakharia made a practical and pragmatic decision by leaving Georgia, as he was facing the prospect of many years in prison,” Aleko Elisashvili, one of the leaders of Lelo – Strong Georgia, told reporters.

According to Elisashvili, another political leader in prison “would not have been of much use.” He emphasized that Gakharia’s team remains fully engaged in the ongoing pre-election campaign.

“Gakharia’s team is here in full composition, fully involved in the pre-election process and the campaign. This is normal under the current circumstances,” Elisashvili stated.

He also noted, in response to a question, that Giorgi Gakharia “will return to Georgia sooner or later.”
