Elekle Kodua held criminally responsible into case of intrusion into Imedi TV

Erekle Kodua, ex-head of Georgia’s Special Operative Department (SOD), guilty of two counts of abusing his power in 2008-2009, has been criminally held responsible into case of illegal intrusion into Imedi TV on November 7, 2007. Kodua has been presented charges in absentia.

Georgia’s Chief Prosecutor’s Office reported during the briefing that 13 people are declared as victims into the case, the majority of them – journalists. The material damage inflicted to the television company reached 3 158 307 GEL.

Kodua is also accused of beating and assaulting Member of Parliament Valeri Gelashvili in 2005.
