Eight individuals detained over October 4 events to be handed plea bargains

A number of the individuals detained in connection with the October 4 events outside the Presidential Palace are to be handed plea bargains.

Plea bargains will be concluded with eight individuals: Eva Shanshiashvili, Alexandre Gogoladze, Gocha Katashvili, Sulkhan Abralava, Ramaz Jorbenadze, Jandri Tirkia, Genadi Kelikhashvili, and Dato Ghutskaia. During today’s court hearing, they pleaded guilty and accepted the evidence as uncontested.

At this stage, plea bargains are not being offered to seven of the fifteen defendants: Doctor Giorgi Chakhunashvili, Ia Darakhvele, Zakro Albutashvili, Davit Zhghenti, Konstantine Kokaia, Kakhaber Mzhavanadze, and Davit Sturua. They do not admit to the charges brought against them. At today’s court session, they stated that they were defending Georgia’s interests on October 4.

As for the individuals who pleaded guilty, their cases have been separated into a distinct proceeding. Once the court approves the plea bargains reached between the parties in a few days, the defendants will be released from the courtroom. The prosecution is offering them plea bargains with a three-year suspended sentence.
