Education Minister meets Head of High Energy Physics Programme at University of South Carolina

The Georgian Minister of Education, Science, and Youth, Givi Mikanadze, has held an introductory meeting with Professor Roberto Petti, Head of the International Scientific Research Programme in High Energy Physics at the University of South Carolina.

According to the Ministry of Education, the two sides discussed prospects for deepening strategic cooperation and developing joint initiatives in education and science between Georgian higher education institutions and the University of South Carolina.

During their meeting, Givi Mikanadze briefed Professor Petti on Georgia’s higher education reforms, focusing specifically on scientific development and current strategic initiatives.

“The meeting focused on the sharing of experience and best practices between Georgian higher education institutions and the University of South Carolina, as well as the provision of exchange programmes for students and researchers,” the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth stated.

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, and Youth, Zviad Gabisonia, and the Rector of the Technical University of Georgia, David Gurgenidze.

Professor Roberto Petti is an internationally renowned specialist in elementary particle physics. His work is of particular importance to the conceptual development of the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE), the evaluation of detector capabilities, and the formulation of high-precision measurement methodologies.
