Education Minister voices changes to Teachers’ Professional Development Scheme
Georgian Education Minister Giorgi Amilakhvari on Wednesday announced decisions regarding the improvement of the Teachers’ Professional Development Scheme.
The Ministry extended the portfolio submission due to June 1st. During the interview with a certified evaluation group, the teachers will orally present observations on practical activities rather than offer written reflections.
Additionally, it is no longer necessary to demonstrate all of the competencies for each direction.
“Teachers have to upload in their portfolio the evidence corresponding to only one competence of the directions and discuss its authenticity during the interview,” Amilakhvari explained.
He continued by saying that even though the deadline for submitting portfolios had been extended, beginning with the 2023–2024 school year, teachers will reap the bonuses of their elevated status in the 2023–2024 academic year.
