Education Committee Chair views participation in IPU Assembly as an excellent opportunity to communicate with countries with which Georgia has limited diplomatic ties
“Our key topics at the Assembly will be defending sovereignty, non-recognition policy and securing the support of countries,” said Mariam Lashkhi, Chair of the parliamentary Education Committee.
According to Lashkhi, the Georgian delegation will focus on occupation and the situation at the occupation line.
“The topic of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly is ‘Good governance through trust and public inclusiveness.’ Georgia has taken successful steps in precisely this direction. Recently, a European Commission report ranked Georgia among the top ten countries in Europe. Parliament Speaker will address the assembly participants.
We will have the opportunity to participate in the Young Parliamentarians Forum, where we will discuss the economic empowerment of youth and women. We will hold bilateral meetings with heads of delegations from countries across Africa, Europe, Asia, and Oceania.
Our key topics at the Assembly will be defending sovereignty, non-recognition policy and securing the support of countries. For Georgia, similar platforms serve as an excellent opportunity to communicate with countries with which Georgia has limited diplomatic ties. We will review the situation beyond the occupation line and inform the assembly participants about the aggression which Georgia has experienced for decades but seeks conflict resolution through peaceful means.
We will also discuss Georgia’s approaches to strengthen the region and foster its stable development and economic prosperity,” she said.
