Economy Ministry: Business sector shows steady progress amid high economic growth
In the third quarter of 2025, alongside strong economic growth, the business sector continued to demonstrate positive trends in turnover, output, and employment, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.
The ministry reports that business sector turnover increased by 10.0% year-on-year, reaching a record 64.7 billion GEL in Q3 2025.
Business sector output also reached a historic high: 25.3 billion GEL, which is 9.7% higher than in the same period of the previous year.
“In the third quarter, output of large enterprises increased by 10.9%, while output of small and medium-sized enterprises rose by 8.7%. During the same period, output increased across all sectors, with particularly strong contributions from information and communication, trade, transportation and storage, accommodation and food service activities, arts, entertainment and recreation, and healthcare,” the ministry said.
According to the agency, business turnover for January–September 2025 reached 180.9 billion GEL, up 12.2%, while business output increased by 15.5%, reaching 69.3 billion GEL.
“In the first three quarters of the year, significant contributions to output growth came from the following sectors: information and communication, trade, transportation and storage, healthcare, accommodation and food service activities, arts, entertainment and recreation, and manufacturing.”
Employment figures also reached record highs. In Q3 2025, the number of employed persons increased by 26.3 thousand (3.3%), reaching 814.7 thousand.
The average monthly salary in the business sector rose by 231 GEL (10.5%), reaching 2,421 GEL.
Compared to the same period last year, employment grew in nearly all sectors. The strongest contributions came from trade; information and communication; accommodation and food services; transportation and storage; construction; and professional, scientific and technical activities, the ministry noted.
