Economy Minister says Azerbaijan remains principal trade partner

Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava met with her Azerbaijani counterpart Mikayil Jabbarov during the working visit to Baku.

The ministers discussed bilateral trade-economic issues and cooperation priorities ahead of the Georgia-Azerbaijan-Turkey trilateral business forum opening.

“Azerbaijan remains one of our main trading partners. More precisely, it is the fourth-largest trading partner of the country. In the first ten months of 2021, bilateral trade increased by 16 per cent, while exports to Azerbaijan increased by 22 %. Azerbaijan is a particularly important market for Georgian export,” Turnava said.

The two ministers accentuated large-scale regional projects in oil and gas and railway spheres. Azerbaijani Economy Minister stressed the need for the intensification in energy, transport, logistics, trade and investments cooperation.
