Economy Minister meets Kazakhstan’s Minister of Transport

During the official visit of the Georgian Prime Minister to Kazakhstan, Georgian Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili met with Kazakhstan’s Minister of Transport Nurlan Sauranbayev to discuss expanding transport and logistics cooperation between the two countries.

According to Georgia’s Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the meeting focused on strengthening the strategic partnership, enhancing regional and international connectivity, and exploring future cooperation opportunities.

A key topic of discussion was increasing the competitiveness and efficiency of the Middle Corridor. The sides emphasized that coordinated efforts within the corridor and the introduction of digital solutions are crucial for ensuring the fast and smooth transit of cargo.

Special attention was given to the development of port infrastructure, particularly the Anaklia Deep Sea Port, which was highlighted as an important component of the Middle Corridor. The ministry noted that the port is expected to significantly strengthen Georgia’s transit role and benefit all partner countries along the corridor.

Kvrivishvili also stressed the need for synchronized development of transport infrastructure, noting that Georgia is investing significantly in the modernization of Georgian Railways to increase capacity and improve cargo flow efficiency.

The meeting also addressed cooperation in civil aviation, which is expected to support further growth in tourist flows between the two countries.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed readiness to continue active cooperation aimed at more effective use of their transport and logistics potential.
