Economy Minister meets her counterpart from Azerbaijan within Georgia-Azerbaijan-Türkiye trilateral business forum

As part of the Georgia-Azerbaijan-Türkiye Trilateral Business Forum, Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, held a meeting with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy, Mikayil Jabbarov.

According to the Ministry of Economy, the discussions highlighted Georgia’s vital role in bolstering regional peace and connectivity. The ministers explored key areas for trade and economic cooperation, emphasising the positive momentum in bilateral trade relations.

The ministry highlighted that both sides emphasised the significance of strengthening cooperation in sectors such as investment, transport and logistics, tourism, agriculture, energy, and communications. Particular focus was placed on advancing the realisation of regional projects.

“The Georgian delegation provided a detailed overview of transport and logistics infrastructure projects, which aim to enhance the competitiveness of the Middle Corridor and establish Georgia as a regional transport hub. Particular emphasis was placed on modernising the Georgian Railways, renewing rolling stock and locomotives, and expanding port infrastructure. The discussions also focused on cooperation in oil and gas transportation. The success of joint efforts within the Southern Gas Corridor, which transports Azerbaijani natural gas through Georgia to Turkish and European markets, was also acknowledged,” the statement from the ministry read.
