Economy Minister meets Azerbaijan’s Deputy Energy Minister

Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili met with Orkhan Zeynalov, Deputy Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan, the Economy Ministry reported.

The meeting focused on deepening cooperation in the energy sector in both bilateral and regional formats.

The sides discussed the “Green Energy Corridor,” which aims to develop a 4,000 MW electricity transmission project between Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania and Hungary and facilitate the export of renewable energy from the South Caucasus to Europe.

They also discussed the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Türkiye-Bulgaria electricity corridor initiative, work on which began in 2025 and which is planned to be developed as a fully land-based “green corridor.”

At the end of the meeting, the sides expressed readiness to continue active cooperation to successfully implement joint projects, which they said would contribute to economic growth in the region, attract investment and help ensure a more sustainable energy future.
