Economy Minister holds introductory meeting with U.S. Chargé d’Affaires

Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili held an introductory meeting with U.S. Chargé d’Affaires  Courtney Austrian.

According to the Economy Ministry, Kvrivishvili congratulated the newly appointed Chargé d’Affaires on beginning her diplomatic mission in Georgia and wished her success in her future work.

The sides discussed priority areas of cooperation between Georgia and the United States, including prospects for further developing bilateral relations in trade, energy, transport and logistics, investment, strengthening connectivity and other areas.

Particular attention was paid to the importance of the Middle Corridor in strengthening regional connectivity and Georgia’s readiness to handle increased cargo flows between Asia and Europe.

The Georgian side provided details on the government’s strategic vision for developing the country’s transport and logistics infrastructure and thereby enhancing Georgia’s competitiveness along the Middle Corridor. The discussion highlighted projects including the Anaklia Deep Sea Port, railway modernization, the East-West Highway, construction of a new airport in Tbilisi, and the broader development of the country’s aviation infrastructure.

The sides also discussed the Black Sea Submarine Electricity Cable project and the development of Georgia’s green energy sector more broadly.

It was emphasized that the Middle Corridor is, and will remain in the future, one of the safest transit routes.
