Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Levan Davitashvili, met with the EU Sanctions Envoy, David O’Sullivan and  the Head of the US Office of Sanctions Coordination, Ambassador James O’Brien, on Tuesday.

“We discussed in detail how Georgia helps the USA, the EU and Great Britain in terms of the implementation of sanctions,” the Minister said following the meeting.

Davitashvili highlighted that the delegation acknowledged Georgia’s valuable partnership with the international community.

“We received a highly positive assessment of the sanctions implementation efforts. Today, Georgia stands as a worthy partner to the international community, as emphasized by our guests. Georgia will continue assisting its partners in mitigating the risks associated with the new sanctions. Detailed discussions will be held with the relevant agencies. The meeting also discussed the region’s geopolitical situation, economic trends, challenges, and opportunities. I think that in the future we will have very close cooperation, first of all, with the European Union structures, as well as with the representatives of the USA and the UK on various issues, to make trade relations more effective through coordinated work. Also, to avoid the risks of bypassing sanctions,” said Davitashvili.

Pawel Herczynski, EU Ambassador, Kelly Degnan, US Ambassador, and Mark Clayton, UK Ambassador attended the meeting.
