“Georgia and Uzbekistan have agreed on concrete measures to expand bilateral trade and investment, setting an ambitious target to scale two-way trade volume to USD 1 billion in the near future,” Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Mariam Kvrivishvili announced today.

Speaking after the 11th session of the Georgia–Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, Kvrivishvili outlined key priorities for boosting Georgian exports and strengthening regional transport links.

“We have very specific objectives and an actionable roadmap: first and foremost, to increase trade between our nations and boost exports of Georgian products. In effect, our goal is for trade volume between our two countries to reach USD 1 billion in the near term,” Kvrivishvili said.

The Minister noted that discussions focused heavily on investment facilitation, highlighting the role of transport and logistics infrastructure within the Middle Corridor trade route, including the strategic importance of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port.

“We spoke at length about encouraging investment, with a particular emphasis on transport and logistics. We highlighted the significance of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port, not only for our country but for the wider region and all nations involved in the Middle Corridor framework,” Minister Kvrivishvili emphasised.

Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Uzbek Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov co-chaired the intergovernmental commission.

Representatives from the Georgian Government Administration, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Environmental Protection and Agriculture, and the Ministry of Economy, alongside senior officials from Georgian Railway, attended the session.
