The Georgian Orthodox Church is celebrating the Easter holiday today.
The Easter liturgy took place in Tbilisi, at the Sioni Cathedral, where the Patriarch’s Easter epistle was presented to the congregation.
The Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II, congratulated the congregation and all of Georgia on the Easter holiday.
The holy fire brought from Jerusalem by a chartered flight was brought to the Sioni Cathedral.
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Speaker of the Parliament Shalva Papuashvili, and President Salome Zourabichvili, as well as other representatives from the legislative and executive branches, attended the Easter liturgy at Sioni Cathedral.
Easter services are being held in Orthodox churches across the country.
