While the entire civilized world banned flights of Azimuth Airline, the Georgian government welcomed it, said Elene Khoshtaria, leader of the opposition Droa party, at the briefing.
Elene Khoshtaria vowed that the Russian plane would not comfortably land in Georgia because the Georgian society would demonstrate its protest.
“We will assemble at Republic Square on May 19 at noon and head for the airport. We have nothing against passengers, they choose the carrier to decide where to fly, but we will demonstrate to Russia and the world that we do not applaud the Russian plane’s flying in Georgia,” Khoshtaria said.
Azimuth Airline will operate Tbilisi-Moscow-Tbilisi flights every day from May 19. Georgian Civil Aviation Agency reported on May 15 that flights between Georgia and the Russian Federation would be operated by non-sanctioned airlines and carriers.
