District election commissions announce selection for polling station heads and members
District election commissions have launched a selection process for heads and members of precinct election commissions.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) reports that a total of 51,510 commission members will be deployed across 3,030 polling stations. This includes the election of 9,090 heads and 15,150 members by district election commissions, with the remaining 27,270 members appointed by nine authorized political parties.
“New legislation requires that precinct election commission members elected by district commissions obtain certification. To assist candidates, the election administration has conducted certification exams nationwide from September 2023 to July 2024. There have been nine rounds of exams, including five for precinct heads and four for members, with some exams available in ethnic minority languages. Approximately 34,000 individuals have been certified,” the CEC reported.
