Disaster recovery efforts continue in Telavi
Employees of local self-government bodies from all eight municipalities of Georgia’s Kakheti region have joined disaster recovery efforts in Telavi following severe weather that struck the city.
According to the Kakheti State Representative’s Administration, Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, State Representative Platon Kalmakhelidze, Members of Parliament Irakli Kadagishvili and Gela Samkharauli, and Deputy State Representative Mamuka Burdiashvili visited the disaster zone to inspect the ongoing cleanup operations alongside local authorities.
The administration said representatives of the region’s municipalities, together with mayors and municipal council chairs, carried out cleanup work at designated locations, clearing streets, public squares, residential courtyards, and surrounding areas damaged by the storm.
On the second day of the recovery operation, heavy machinery continued to work in the affected areas, while volunteer groups made up of representatives from municipalities across the Kakheti region were also mobilized, the administration said.
Representatives of the Georgian Dream youth organization, led by Varlam Liparteliani, also joined the cleanup efforts in Telavi, according to the statement.
