“In 2008, when we had this war, after that war Russia built military bases and still continues to occupy 20 per cent of our territory. But regardless of this challenge, the security challenge, we managed to achieve an unprecedented, uninterrupted decade of peace and stability, which brought prosperity and economic growth to Georgia,” stated Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili during the discussion Diplomacy Dialogue on the Western Balkans within the World Economic Forum in Davos.

The PM notes that since regaining independence, Georgia has never experienced such a peaceful, stable situation like now.

“Regarding the security situation in the South Caucasus. First of all, of course, you remember the occupation of our sovereign territories. Russia still occupies 20 per cent of our territories. Yesterday, we discussed this. In 2008, when we had this war, after that war Russia built military bases and still continues to occupy 20 per cent of our territory. But regardless of this challenge, the security challenge, we managed to achieve an unprecedented, uninterrupted decade of peace and stability, which brought prosperity and economic growth to Georgia,” the PM noted.
