Deputy Minister of Economy: Georgia aims to transform growing connectivity, cargo flows into broader economic opportunities

“Our goal is to transform growing connectivity and cargo flows into broader economic opportunities,” said Vakhtang Tsintsadze, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, addressing the Second International Investment Forum in Baku, Azerbaijan, held under the auspices of the President of Azerbaijan.

Speaking about the Middle Corridor, the Deputy Minister noted that countries in the region acknowledge that realizing the full potential of the Middle Corridor is possible only through coordinated and joint efforts.

“Strengthening transport links, improving trade facilitation, developing digital connectivity, and harmonizing infrastructure and services will be vital for transforming the corridor into a more efficient, competitive, and sustainable system.

Alongside deep economic integration, this effort can contribute to creating more secure and reliable value chains and establishing close ties between the markets of Central Asia, the South Caucasus, Turkey, Europe, and China.

Therefore, our goal should be not merely to increase transit volumes, but to ensure that growing connectivity translates into increased investment, fosters productivity and value-added growth, and creates new employment opportunities across the region,” he said.

Government representatives from Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Germany, China and heads of Kibar Holding and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) participated in the panel discussion.
