“Participants of Pride Festival are safely evacuated from the territory. We are undertaking measures for the situation to stabilize,” said Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.
According to Darakhvelidze, the police were mobilized at Lisi Wonderland territory. The entrances were blocked by barriers. However, since it was an open space, many of the anti-Pride Festival demonstrators found the access from bypass paths. He said the ministry was alert on risks.
“We did our best to protect the life and health of each person,” said Darakhvelidze.
Police and anti-Pride Festival rally participants clashed at Lisi Wonderland, outskirts of Tbilisi, where Pride Festival’s final event was due to be held. Pride Festival participants left the territory due to security reasons. They evacuated by mini-buses saying the police failed to ensure their security.
