Deputy FM: Gov't works intensively to evacuate Georgian citizens from Sudan

Georgia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili, said about thirty Georgian citizens are in Sudan.

The Minister stated that the Georgian government communicates with the UN office and foreign partners to evacuate Georgian residents.

“We have asked our citizens to stay at home. We are working intensively with our partners to establish a humanitarian corridor or find another way to get our citizens out of Sudan on time,” added the deputy minister.

Georgian citizens, he claims, are safe and healthy.

Clashes continue between Sudan’s army and fighters of the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces. According to the latest figures, 59 people died, and over 600 were injured.
