Deputy Economy Minister: Georgia’s CIFTIS participation highlights its potential as digital services hub

Georgia’s participation in the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) is an important step toward positioning the country not only as a transport and logistics corridor, but also as a hub providing the corridor with essential digital, financial and other services, Deputy Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Irakli Nadareishvili said.

According to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, Nadareishvili is participating in CIFTIS, currently underway in Beijing.

The deputy minister highlighted the development of regional transport routes and the need to integrate modern services into the process.

“Alongside the growing transport importance of the Middle Corridor in recent years, the need to provide relevant services has come to the fore, both in transport and in logistics and warehousing. This also includes financial and digital services. Accordingly, Georgia’s role as one of the key players in the Middle Corridor is particularly important and promising in these areas as well,” Nadareishvili said.

CIFTIS is one of the major international platforms for trade in services, bringing together government agencies, international organizations and business representatives.

This year’s exhibition is held under the theme “Global Services, Shared Prosperity.” Representatives of 90 countries, regions and international organizations are participating, while more than 1,800 companies are attending the event on site.
