“We accept air companies and airplanes, which are not on the sanctioned list. Georgia is loyal to the international community,” said Mariam Kvrivishvili, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development.
According to Mariam Kvrivishvili, a gradual increase in tourist flows and revenues from tourism is significant for the Georgian economy.
“It is important for Georgia to receive more tourists both through air and land, because our private sector, small and medium-sized enterprises work successfully on the tourist market. Direct flights with Russia were restored last year. You know that Georgia has a different approach from its neighboring countries. Georgia stays loyal to the decision based on which the companies, that are on the sanctioned list, do not operate in Georgia. These companies cannot use airplanes, which are sanctioned.
On the one hand, this ensures that Georgia is faithful to the international community, and on the other hand, the country receives air companies and airplanes, which are not on the sanctioned list. Tourist traffic is ongoing and we will soon have a detailed analysis of which countries had a positive effect,” she said.
