Deputy Economy Minister: Eight-month trade figures hit record highs for total and domestic exports, signalling robust growth in domestic production

“Positive trends in foreign trade are persisting, with record figures recorded for both total exports and domestic exports. Over the first eight months of the year, domestic exports grew by 63.5% to reach USD 3,286.6 million, while total export volume rose by over 22%, reaching an all-time high of USD 5,422.5 million,” stated Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Vakhtang Tsintsadze.

According to the Ministry of Economy, exports in August 2026 surged by 24.7% year-on-year, setting an August record of USD 752.4 million. Domestic exports (excluding re-exports) grew by 60.0% compared to August last year, setting a monthly record of USD 432.3 million.

Assessing foreign trade performance to date, the Deputy Minister emphasised that such strong growth in domestic exports demonstrates expanding production within Georgia.

“This growth includes goods that are globally competitive and exported from Georgia to numerous countries worldwide. The Georgian Government’s primary goal is to provide maximum support for the development of domestic production. To this end, the government operates several targeted state programmes designed to enhance private sector competitiveness and boost productivity,” Tsintsadze noted.

The Deputy Minister highlighted that these efforts are driving the strong figures observed in foreign trade while fostering broader domestic economic activity.

“Georgia is now in its sixth consecutive year of robust economic expansion, and we expect these positive dynamics to hold in the coming months and years,” he concluded.
