Deputy Economy Minister: Anaklia Deep Sea Port’s success depends on well-planned plan

The success and development of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port will depend on a properly designed master plan that enables the project to realize its full potential, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Tamar Ioseliani said during a working visit to the Netherlands, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported.

According to the ministry, Ioseliani held meetings with international consultancy Port Consultants Rotterdam to discuss alternatives for updating the Anaklia Deep Sea Port’s master plan, define the next stages of the project, identify potential information gaps, and assess key risks.

The deputy minister said discussions also involved the company that prepared the detailed engineering design currently being used for the port’s construction works, including the construction of the breakwater and dredging the harbor to a depth of 18 meters.

“We held very important discussions on how the existing master plan should be updated to ensure the efficient use of the land allocated for the Anaklia Port and to align its development with market demand. The development and success of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port depend on a well-planned master plan that will determine its ability to fully realize its potential as a transport and logistics hub,” Ioseliani said.
