Defence Minister meets Turkiye’s Air Force Evaluation and Inspection Director

Georgian Defence Minister Irakli Chikovani met the Director of Evaluation and Inspection of the Air Force of Türkiye, Lieutenant General Yaşar Kadıoğlu.

According to the Defence Ministry, members of the delegation commended Georgia for its immediate response and support in the search and rescue operations following the plane crash near the Georgia-Azerbaijan border.

Irakli Chikovani, in his turn, once again expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of those killed in the Turkish Air Force military transport plane crash.

Georgian Defence Forces Chief General-Leutenant Giorgi Matiashvili, Deputy Defence Minister Paata Patiashvili, Deputy Commander of Defence Forces General-Major Zaza Chkhaidze, the Turkish delegation members and the Ambassador of Turkiye to Georgia Ali Kaan Orbay attended the meeting.

The Turkish military plane crashed on November 11, approximately 5 kilometres from the Georgian state border. As a result, 20 personnel of the Turkish Air Force died.
