Defence Minister hosts newly appointed British Ambassador to Georgia

Georgian Defence Minister Irakli Chikovani hosted the newly appointed British Ambassador to Georgia Gareth Ward.

According to the Ministry press office, Chikovani thanked Britain for its “strong support” for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, and the practical assistance provided over the years.

“The meeting underscored the importance of a strategic partnership between Georgia and the United Kingdom.

The parties discussed issues of bilateral defence cooperation. The UK’s important contribution to the development of the Georgian Defense Forces and its integration into NATO was noted.

The parties expressed hope that defense cooperation will be strengthened further,” reads the statement.
