Georgian Defence Minister Irakli Chikovani visited the Mukhatgverdi Brothers Cemetery on the day of Grave Blessing to honour the memory of military personnel who lost their lives during the 2008 Russia-Georgian War.
The Minister visited the cemetery together with the Commander of the Defense Forces, Lieutenant General Giorgi Matiashvili, and representatives of the Defense Forces leadership.
“On the Day of Grave Blessing, at the Mukhatgverdi Brothers Cemetery, together with the Commander of the Defense Forces and military leadership, we paid tribute to our heroes—the worthy sons of the nation who sacrificed their most precious lives for the homeland.
The sacrifice of our heroes strengthens the foundation of our statehood and reinforces our national identity. Their example teaches us that serving the country means responsibility, dignity, and devotion to the highest national values.
It was a special honor to meet with the family members of the heroes today. I once again express my respect and gratitude to the parents for raising such heroic children for Georgia,” Chikovani stated.
