Defence and Security Committee endorses gov't resolution on determining armed forces strength
The Defence and Security Committee held its final meeting within the framework of the current convocation of the Parliament, during which the deputies unanimously supported the government’s resolution on the strength of the Defenсe Forces.
According to Grigol Giorgadze, the Deputy Minister of Defense and the rapporteur on the issue, the resolution determining the number of the Defence Forces is submitted to the Parliament of Georgia for approval in parallel with the presentation of the state budget draft.
He stated that the size of the Defence Forces for 2025 is set at no more than 37,000 military personnel, similar to the current year.
The First Deputy Chairman of the committee, Tengiz Sharmanashvili, thanked the committee members for their active involvement in the committee’s work and wished them success in their future endeavours.
