Death toll in landslide-ravaged Shovi rises to 17

The death toll in the landslide-ravaged Shovi resort of the Oni Municipality rose to 17, Temur Mghebrishvili, Head of the Emergency Situations Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported.

The death toll in the landslide-hit Shovi resort rose from 11 to 17 on August 5. Eighteen people remain missing, while 210 were safely moved from the disaster zone.

Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili declared Monday, August 7, a Day of Mourning. A deadly landslide struck the resort on August 3.
