Croatia supports confirmed European path of Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia

Croatia supports the confirmed EU integration aspirations of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia, said Croatian State Secretary for European Affairs, Andreja Metelko-Zgombic, ahead of the European Union Council meeting in Brussels that plans to consider the EU enlargement issue.

According to Andreja Metelko-Zgombic, enlargement is the EU’s investment in security, development, stability and peace.

“Croatia has always been a strong supporter of the EU enlargement process in regards to the six western Balkan countries. Now we are supporting the three new countries included in the process from the Eastern Partnership – Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia, of which the European path has been confirmed.

We really believe that enlargement is an investment in security, development, stability and peace. This also has a direct impact on the stability of the whole European Continent. But to reach this, two conditions need to be met.

On one hand, we need to have a credible enlargement perspective for each of those countries on the EU side, on the other hand, those countries need to have strong commitment and action with regard to the reforms, adherence to the values and with our policies,” she said.
