Court of Appeals upholds Basilashvili's acquittal in domestic abuse case
The Tbilisi Court of Appeals has upheld the first instance court verdict regarding tennis player Nikoloz Basilashvili, finding him not guilty of psychological and physical violence against his ex-wife.
Nikoloz Basilashvili and Nelli Dorokashvili did not attend the trial.
The prosecution claims to appeal the decision in the Supreme Court.
Nelli Dorokashvili’s lawyer, Ana Tavkhelidze, says they doubt the ruling would change, however plan to file a suit in ECHR if the Supreme Court upholds the acquittal.
Tbilisi City Court declared Nikoloz Basilashvili not guilty in a domestic abuse case in October last year.
