Court imposes preventive detention on October 4 protest rally organisers
The Tbilisi City Court has ordered the detention of Paata Burchuladze, Murtaz Zodelava, Irakli Nadiradze, Paata Manjgaladze, and Lasha Beridze, the organisers of the October 4 protest rally, as a preventive measure.
These individuals are charged with organising and leading groups involved in violence, attempting to seize a strategically and nationally significant object, violently disrupting Georgia’s constitutional order, and inciting the overthrow of the state government. The accused Paata Burchuladze, Murtaz Zodelava, Irakli Nadiradze, Paata Manjgaladze, and Lasha Beridze face a potential sentence of up to nine years in prison.
A pre-trial hearing in the case is scheduled for November 26.
The law enforcement officers detained the defendants on October 4.
