Olympic-standard swimming pool construction kicks off in Kutaisi

Today, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, together with Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Irakli Karseladze and the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) Country Director for Georgia Shane Rosenthal, launched the construction of Kutaisi’s Olympic-standard swimming pool by burying a time capsule in its foundation, the government’s press service reported.

The swimming pool meets modern standards in full. According to the project, the Olympic-standard swimming pool will be 50 meters in length and 25 meters in width. This sports complex will offer athletes special services for rebuilding strength and rehabilitation after injury, among others. Besides in Kutaisi, modern-standard sports complexes will be built concurrently in 3 other cities: Akhaltsikhe, Rustavi, and Zugdidi.

The construction of all four sports complexes enjoys financial support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
