Construction of modern waste transfer station in Poti set for October completion

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Solomon Pavliashvili, together with Mikheil Gogolidze, Director of the Solid Waste Management Company of Georgia, and Davit Kvitsiani, Deputy Mayor of Poti Municipality, inspected the ongoing construction of a modern waste transfer station in Poti.

“The waste transfer station currently under construction in Poti Municipality forms part of the broader infrastructure for the modern waste disposal facility being built in Zugdidi. The station will serve Poti Municipality. Bringing this facility into operation will significantly enhance the ecological environment, both within Poti Municipality and across the wider region,” declared Solomon Pavliashvili.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, construction of the waste transfer station, which adheres fully to international standards, is scheduled for completion in October this year. The implementation of the project will help improve the municipal waste management system, reduce negative environmental impacts, and foster the development of modern waste management infrastructure aligned with European standards throughout the region.
