Considering Shovi landscape no helicopter would be safe to fly at night, Interior Minister says

“When our heroic rescuers and firefighters were selflessly working in the Shovi disaster zone, representatives of certain political parties were busy spreading lies about their equipment, techniques, and social conditions,” Georgian Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri remarked during the Ministerial Hour format in the Parliament.

Gomelauri stated: “No matter what type of modern helicopter the state had, flying in this terrain at night would be unsafe, and we would not doubt the safety of rescuers and firefighters.”

The deadly landslide in the Shovi resort in the country’s west killed 32 people.
