Commissioner Varhelyi says EU makes Georgia ready for membership

“We make Georgia ready for becoming a member of the EU,” the European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Olivér Varhelyi, posted on Twitter.

“We see that the vast majority of Georgia is for EU membership. This is a very strong mandate, not only for the government but for the entire political elite of the country and everybody active in working on this. We make Georgia ready for becoming a member of the EU,” he tweeted.

European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Olivér Varhelyi paid a 2-day official visit to Georgia on November 15-16.

The EU Commissioner met Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, President Salome Zourabichvili, legislative authorities, and opposition to review the country’s progress and next steps toward EU membership.
