Comments that have no basis and are said in a way that creates confusion in public are very unhelpful, US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan told journalists.

The Ambassador responded to a question about whether she considers political accusation or anti-western propaganda an allegation by the ruling Georgian Dream party that the Credit Suisse bank tried to blackmail former chair Bidzina Ivanishvili and force him to return to politics and involve Georgia in the war, as a journalist asked.

“I found the comment very confusing. The comments that have no basis in fact and are said in a way that creates confusion in public are very unhelpful. It is the kind of disinformation that I think ends up in confusion and automatically divides people. This is the time when Georgians need to be coming together and not dividing. This is the time for unity,” Ambassador Degnan said.
