Kakha Bekauri, Chairman of the National Communications Commission (ComCom), presented the annual report to the parliament. Bekauri spoke about the dissemination of obscenity in the media and regulation mechanisms, adding that similar facts previously were complained in the self-regulation body of a broadcaster, but the Constitutional Court decision changed this approach.
“Regulation of the media is a sensitive topic. We make the decisions but do not sanction the broadcasters. Media independence and freedom are valuable and significant for us,” Bekauri claimed.
Bekauri said ComCom is waiting for a decision from the court. “We want to have a decision, which passed the court control,” he claimed.
