Clash at Batumi City Assembly

Representatives of the opposition clashed with the security officers of Batumi Sakrebulo (City Assembly).

Members of the opposition parties and their supporters demanded to be allowed to attend the sitting.

The Batumi Sakrebulo was due to discuss leasing a territory to Le Meridian Hotel in the Batumi Boulevard.

The tension followed an attempt of demonstrators to break through the lined-up police officers.

Batumi Sakrebulo member Natalia Zoidze said the protesters had to apply earlier to attend the sitting.
