City Hall to relocate petrol stations from Heroes Square

Tbilisi City Hall will relocate petrol stations operating at Laguna Vere territory, in the vicinity of Heroes Square on the Mtkvari right riverbank, Kakha Kaladze, Tbilisi Mayor announced at the municipal government meeting.

Kakha Kaladze said the City Hall worked on the Laguna Vere territory’s modernization project last year. It planned to arrange a new transport knot with new lines and traffic lights, but negotiations with the owners of petrol stations failed.

According to Kaladze, the City Hall will allocate spaces in different districts of Tbilisi. The Transport and Urban Development is working on the project, and it will be submitted to the Tbilisi City Assembly (Sakrebulo) for approval.

“Everyone will agree that the mentioned area cannot provide capacity for the number of vehicles in Tbilisi and this territory, respectively. Thus, we decided to move the gas stations to another location,” he said.
