Citizens' Elisashvili suggests Kobakhidze chosen for PM as not corrupt

Aleko Elisashvili, a member of the Citizens party, believes that replacing Irakli Garibashvili with Irakli Kobakhidze as the Prime Minister will not bring about significant changes for the country.

Elisashvili suggests that both are likely to maintain a similar approach. He also notes that Irakli Kobakhidze has never been exposed to corruption, and this is one of the reasons for selecting him.

“In reality, we’ll hear the same narrative – claims of a booming economy, prosperity for all, and minimal unemployment. There won’t be any meaningful changes for the country and its people.

It appears that Bidzina Ivanishvili wasn’t deeply involved in many matters. Now, he needs to demonstrate that he hasn’t completely retired.

When the cameras are rolling, Kobakhidze speaks harshly, cynically, and angrily about his opponents, but it’s undeniable that he is competent, particularly in parliamentary activities. Irakli Kobakhidze, unlike Garibashvili, hasn’t been implicated in corruption. Garibashvili used state resources to fly in private planes and send his son to university. Perhaps one reason for selecting Kobakhidze is his lack of association with corruption,” Elisashvili said.

According to Imedi TV channel, the chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party, Irakli Kobakhidze, is expected to be nominated for the position of the head of the government, while the current PM, Irakli Garibashvili, will assume the role of chair of the party.
