Citizen assaulted near April 9 memorial on Rustaveli Avenue

Parents and family members of individuals arrested during recent protests have gathered at the April 9 Memorial on Rustaveli Avenue.

A verbal and physical confrontation occurred at the memorial. According to reports, two unidentified individuals approached the crowd and addressed the protesters with the words ‘Natsis, Natsis,’ [United National Movement members] after which the confrontation escalated, and one citizen was physically assaulted.

Law enforcement officers arrived on the scene and are positioned around the memorial to maintain order.
