China pledges deeper cooperation with Georgia at Tbilisi Development Forum
China’s Ambassador to Georgia, Zhou Qian, outlined expanded bilateral ties and joint development initiatives during the Tbilisi Regional Forum for Sustainable Development.
Speaking on behalf of the Chinese Embassy, the Ambassador expressed strong support for Georgia’s development goals.
“On behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Georgia, I would like to extend my warm congratulations to this forum,” the diplomat stated at the opening ceremony, also attended by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Mayor Kakha Kaladze.
Drawing parallels between the two nations’ modernization paths, he emphasized China’s commitment to mutual progress.
“In this process of modernization, China does not seek to stand alone but hopes for a flourishing community of shared progress.”
The Ambassador positioned China as a partner ready to share experience, stating “We sincerely contribute wisdom and strength to the Global South” through initiatives like the Belt and Road project.
The Ambassador also said that China is committed to deepening its partnership with Georgia across multiple sectors.
“China is willing to deepen cooperation with Georgia and other countries in high technology, clean energy, digital economy, infrastructure, and cultural exchange, working together to build a greener, smarter, and more inclusive future,” Zhou Qian declared.
In his speech, China’s Ambassador emphasized connecting China’s Belt and Road Initiative with Georgia’s strategic transit role.
“China will remain committed to working with the Georgian people to promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, strengthen communication and coordination, deepen the connection between the ‘Belt and Road’ and the Middle Corridor,” the diplomat stated.
Concluding with a traditional proverb, the Ambassador expressed optimism about the bilateral relationship.
“As a Chinese ancient saying goes, with a steady start, a journey of a thousand miles is achievable. No matter how the international situation changes, peace and development should always be the common pursuit of all countries. Without peace, development will be a tree without roots. China will remain committed to working with the Georgian people to promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, strengthen communication and coordination, deepen the connection between the “Belt and Road” and the Middle Corridor, expand openness and cooperation, and realize mutual benefit and win-win outcomes!” Zhou Qian added.
The Ambassador emphasized that China views Georgia as a fellow developing nation, stating China “will always be a member of the Global South and regard diplomatic relations with developing countries as a priority.”
