Chancellor Scholz vows Germany continues backing Georgia on its EU integration path

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz discussed the issues pertaining to the extension of the German-Georgia partnership, current security, and European policy challenges, as well as the upshots of Russia’s war in Ukraine, reads the Federal Government’s press release.

According to the readout, the Chancellor emphasized that Germany would continue to support Georgia on its path to the European Union, urging the Georgian government to duly take the necessary steps.

As for the security situation, Germany will continue to back Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within the internationally recognized borders.  The Chancellor of Germany and the Prime Minister of Georgia agreed to continue an open and result-oriented exchange of views and to keep close contact, the press statement added.

Earlier today, Garibashvili and Scholz held a meeting in Berlin within the scope of the PM’s Working Visit.
