Chair of Foreign Relations Committee speaks about occupation-related threats at OSCE PA meeting

Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chair of the parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee and head of the Georgian delegation at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly participates in the 31st annual OSCE PA session in Bucharest, Romania.

Samkharadze spoke about the security situation and facing threats addressing the OSCE PA Political and Security Affairs Committee.

Nikoloz Samkharadze stressed that Georgia’s 20% of the territory remains occupied, and this occupation left over 300 thousand people internally displaced. He noted that some OSCE member countries do not use the term “occupation.”

“Negotiations in the format of Geneva International Discussions (GID) have been going on for years, including under the co-chairmanship of the OSCE, but the peace process still cannot be settled,” he said and called on the international community for more activity.
