CEC: Voters abroad whose registration address is in occupied territory or is unclear to participate in elections

Voters living abroad, whose registration address is in the occupied territory or is unclear as per the data of the Services Development Agency, will be able to participate in the 2024 parliamentary elections, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Giorgi Kalandarishvili announced at the briefing.

According to Kalandarishvili, the commission unanimously decided during the meeting and put an end to “speculations over this issue.”

“Such voters who have registered by October 7 data at the consulates or diplomatic representations will vote at additionally opened polling stations in different countries if they hold valid Georgian ID cards or passports,” the CEC Chairman explained.

Also, today, at the meeting, the CEC adopted another important decree and established the rules for filling in the electoral ballot and declaring them as null and void to ensure the use of electronic means of voting in elections.

“We continue to work intensively and inform voters to hold the October 26 elections at a high professional level in line with international standards,” Giorgi Kalandarishvili stated.
