CEC urges political party representatives to engage as election precincts begin operations
The Central Election Commission (CEC) conducted an informative briefing regarding election preparations, announcing that 3,031 election precincts have been established nationwide, with precinct election commissions officially commencing operations on September 26.
During the briefing, the CEC noted that members of the precinct election commissions have already begun distributing voter cards. However, they observed that representatives appointed by some political parties have not been actively engaging in this process, and they urged full participation, emphasizing that the scale of the distribution requires the involvement of all commission members.
The CEC underscored the importance of voters verifying their information in the unified voter list to prevent any confusion on Election Day, particularly, as several precincts have been expanded due to recent reforms. Voters have until October 8 to request changes to the voter list.
“To facilitate data verification, the CEC has introduced a new mobile application, Voters Georgia – Cesko, which enables users to check their registration status, locate their polling station on a map, and verify information for themselves and their family members. The application, along with the voter verification website (voters.cec.gov.ge), supports multiple languages, including Azerbaijani and Armenian, to accommodate ethnic minority communities. Voters can also confirm their data at precinct election commission locations or by calling the CEC contact centre at 2 51 00 51,” the CEC stated.
According to the Commission, voters can request a portable ballot box for home voting by applying to their precinct election commission by October 15. For individuals using wheelchairs, the CEC has designated accessible polling stations throughout each district. These voters may select any adapted precinct in their district by notifying the election commission by October 15. A comprehensive list of accessible polling stations is available on the CEC’s Election Map.
To participate in the election, voters must present a valid electronic identity card or passport.
“An exception is made for individuals holding a non-electronic ID card (issued before July 28, 2011) due to religious beliefs or health conditions; however, only 394 such cards remain valid,” the CEC added.
The CEC urges voters to verify their information and ensure their readiness for the upcoming elections on October 26.
